At the In Home Care Support Agency (IHCSA) QLD & VIC, we are committed to safeguarding the privacy and confidentiality of the personal information we collect and manage. Our data handling practices align with the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), ensuring the responsible collection, storage, use, and disclosure of personal information.

Privacy and confidentiality

Your personal information, including sensitive information, is collected by The Family Day Care Association of Queensland trading as In Home Care Support Agency for Queensland (‘the Agency’) from the following organisations:

  • It is necessary for the delivery of IHC services
  • The family has been provided reasonable notice of the disclosure
  • The disclosure is authorised by the family or required by law
  • It is necessary for the enforcement of criminal law
  • It is required to prevent or lessen a serious and imminent threat to a person’s life or health.

All parties involved in delivering IHC must comply with the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles. Privacy complaints may also be directed to the Federal Privacy Commissioner, but only if they were initially lodged with the department and were not resolved to the complainant’s satisfaction.

Conflict of interest

IHCSA is committed to maintaining transparency and fairness in all interactions. We treat all families and service providers equally, ensuring no unfair advantage or disadvantage. Our Conflict of Interest Policy ensures that all In Home Care (IHC) Services receive equal treatment, and no service has an unfair advantage

Key points:

  • Fair and transparent referrals: families are provided with all available IHC Service options in their area
  • Secure data management: family details are securely stored and only shared with consent
  • No unfair advantage: IHCSA does not favour any IHC Service over another
  • Compliance and monitoring: regular reviews ensure adherence to our Conflict of Interest Policy
  • Reporting and dispute resolution: families and service providers can raise concerns directly with IHCSA
